This is your chance to see predator prey relationships in action.  All of our exhibit animals are fed live food in front of your eyes.  At the end of the feeding program, you will get the chance to meet one of our program animals.  Feeding typically lasts 45 minutes.  There is NO CHARGE to attend.

A family event so popular, we’re doing it twice! Ring in the “Zoo” year during a special Noon Year’s Celebration on December 31 & January 1. Join us for dancing, music, fun and games hosted by the Twin Cities Road Crew! We will have craft making, special animal enrichment, giveaways, and a countdown to noon with hundreds of beach balls dropped from the ceiling.

Rice Park powered by Xcel Energy captures the spirit of the holiday season with a tree as tall and bright as the iconic Rockefeller Center tree in New York City. The gigantic tree in Rice Park will be lit 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The 2013 – 2014 tree will be lit with 15,000 energy-efficient LED lights. The park will sparkle with millions of twinkling lights, classic Nutcracker and angel statues, and other holiday décor.

Anoka Tree Lighting Ceremony

On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, from 4-7 p.m., plan to visit River Plaza (City Hall – 2015 1st Avenue North) to experience the excitement of the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting with bonfires, holiday music, Santa shack, and more.  Here is the schedule: 

4 pm – Lighting of the Bonfires 

4 pm – Festive holiday music sets the scene 

4-7 pm – FREE-Horse drawn trolley rides 

4-7 pm – Food vendors serving up goodies!               

4:15 pm – Santa Claus ARRIVES!! Mrs. Claus will be there too!

4:15 pm to 6:45 pm – Visit Santa Claus & Mrs. Claus in the Santa Shack (FREE)

5:50 pm – Welcome from Anoka Mayor-Phil Rice

5:59 pm – C-O-U-N-T-D-O-W-N to the Christmas tree lighting

6 pm – Christmas tree lighting

4-7 pm – Bonfires and music continue along with horse drawn trolley rides.
